I found myself in the familiar, mirrored elevator, reflecting on a new refreshed me. I wondered what beauty inguenuities might lie ahead. “What could the CosmetiCare wizards wave their magic medspa wand over this time?” I thought. Personally, I had a few things in mind, but wanted their expert eye and unbiased opinion, of course.   My visit would come the night after my fellow #CosmetiCareMoms kicked off our 2.0 series of real OC moms trying out treatments on the medspa menu. While the gals and I got glammed up for the fun, know that we’re all usually just trying to get by … with a kid on our hip, a few more in tow and fingers crossed for surviving another day. Sounds familiar perhaps.     It’s great to have many of these fun-spirited gal pals to talk treatments with—and it’s really a riot. With an irreverent spirit, we’re honest, open, and we’re all well aware that MomLife, stress and time has challenged us to ‘up our game,’ if you will.   So, anxious to talk latest and greatest beauty fixes, the elevator dinged, reached the second floor, and I saw Dina’s delightful face. Dina Fox is a doll, and she’s as fun as they come. If you visit CosmetiCare for a complimentary consult appointment, she will be your go-to gal.     You’ll feel comfortable and at ease, as Dina has a way of mixing knowledge with common sense, and she’s always a fan of trying the least-invasive option first.     So, I pointed to my undereye wrinkles and asked what we could do about them. We met with Dr. Bernette, a plastic surgeon in the office, who also sees medspa clients, and the verdict was: Laser Resurfacing over the whole face for an even tone,  paired with—many women’s BFF—Botox. Done and done. I was in.     I’d be doing laser resurfacing with an Erbium laser to treat superficial and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on my face, and the Botox would further “amp things up.” I’m all in for results like this lasered client below (right?!) Her skin on the right looks far smoother, is dewy and glowing. Uh, sure, yes, please.      Dr. Bernette gave me a heads-up to clear my calendar for a good week after the procedure, as there would be serious redness, scabbing, shedding, and I’d be covered in a lovely layer of gooey Aquaphor for a week (pretty!). No makeup and no sun for a month also fyi. A small price really for all the abuse I’ve given my face over my years on this planet I figured.   About laser skin resurfacing. What it can do. The Erbium laser removes the built-up layers of dead skin to stimulate your skin to rejuvenate. As the laser scans over the top of your skin, it removes an extremely fine layer, and with this, the diseased, damaged and thickened areas. This in turn promotes healthy circulation and the body’s healing mechanism produces a new layer of fresh skin. As the new outer layer of skin grows, the body’s natural healing mechanism stimulates new collagen formation. The result is smoother, healthier looking skin with a natural glow. Lasers can be used on women even in their 20’s,  as it prevents premature aging.   CosmetiCare offers the Erbium and CO2 laser, both gold standards. (CO2 is more intense, and Dr. Bernette wanted to go less powerful to see how my skin reacts.)   So with a plan of attack confirmed, my consult wrapped. And I scheduled my treatment visits.   Now, back to shuffling this little guy below back and forth between beauty visits. Being a Mom is a beautiful thing! (Kids by the way are welcome for follow-ups, but littles are too squirmy for consults.)   I’ll keep you posted on the real OC journey ahead.     CosmetiCare 1101 Bayside Drive, Suite 100 Corona Del Mar, CA 92625 949.537.2368 (As a #CosmetiCareMom, this is a sponsored post and all thoughts and opinions are my own.)
