What is breast augmentation?
The breasts go through an array of changes throughout a woman’s lifetime. Although this is a natural process, there is no need to simply tolerate a figure you do not absolutely adore. If you have experienced a loss of breast volume as a result of pregnancy, nursing, weight loss, or aging, breast augmentation in Newport Beach can help restore your physique while allowing you to once again enjoy all your favorite clothing and swimwear styles. The surgery is most commonly performed using implants, which are devices housed in chest capsules created for this purpose.
How is breast augmentation performed?
Breast augmentation using implants is usually performed in several stages. First, your surgeon will create chest pockets to encapsulate the devices. The implants are then inserted, boosting chest volume. There are quite a number of variables to decide upon with your surgeon, as each procedure is masterfully customized to suit your body type and goals.
You will need to choose your implant type, incision pattern, and implant placement. Rest assured, our compassionate, supportive team will be here to guide you every step of the way as you navigate your surgical journey.

Saline Implants
Saline implants are filled with a sterile saltwater solution. They do not look or feel as authentic as their silicone counterparts but they have several distinct advantages. These include their affordability, the fact that they can be inserted unfilled and thus require a smaller incision, and the fact that each implant can be filled to a different volume capacity, eradicating breast asymmetry. Lastly, it is easier to tell if a silicone device has ruptured or is leaking. If the implant does break down, the body merely absorbs the harmless saltwater solution, making saline implants a safe choice for those concerned about complications.
Silicone Implants
Silicone implants are made with silicone gel and are known to look, feel, and behave in an authentic manner that mimics natural breast tissue. They come in a wide array of shapes, sizes, and textures, making it possible to customize the procedure to a high degree. One major advantage of silicone implants is that they are less likely to cause complications such as rippling. A tradeoff with silicone implants, however, is that patients need to undergo regular breast screenings since it can be more difficult to detect rupture or leakage.
Gummy bear implants
Gummy bear implants are “form-stable” devices engineered in an appealing tear-drop shape that women find closely resembles their natural breast contours. They can hold their shape over time, regardless of what activities are performed, earning them a positive reputation. Their outer textured shell helps reduce the risk of rippling or capsular contracture, common complications associated with breast enhancement.

What are the different incision patterns available?
Inframammary incision
This incision pattern is perfect for patients who desire larger cup sizes. It runs along the inframammary fold with scarring later well-hidden by the bra line.
Transumbilical
With this approach, the incision is created in the belly button, after which the surgeon tunnels the unfilled implant up to the chest with the help of an endoscope. Scarring is impossible to detect.
Periareolar
Here, your surgeon will create an incision that encircles the nipple. Scarring is later virtually impossible to detect, thanks to the areola’s darker pigments.
Transaxillary
A transaxillary incision is placed in the armpit where scarring is negligible. Implants are then inserted unfilled and tunneled through to the chest, placed beneath the pec muscles.

Where will my implants be placed?
Subglandular placement
This is a good choice for women with enough breast tissue to cover the implant, which is placed over the pec muscles. The subglandular placement works well for those pursuing larger cup sizes and results in less overall discomfort for the patient.
Submuscular placement
Here, the implant is placed partially behind the pec muscle. This works well for patients who lack sufficient breast tissue to fully cover the implant and who desire a natural look. A submuscular placement usually means mammograms are easier to perform and the risk of certain complications is reduced.

Let’s Talk Breast Aug
Who makes an ideal candidate for breast enhancement in Newport Beach?
During your private consultation, our knowledgeable team will listen to your concerns, perform a physical evaluation, and review your medical records to ensure you are a good prospect for surgery. Ideal candidates for breast augmentation are at least 18 years old for saline implants and at least 22 years old for silicone implants.
It is critical that they are in good health and do not smoke. Additionally, it’s important that patients have realistic expectations for their results and that they are willing to follow their provider’s instructions to the letter before and after surgery.
Breast augmentation recovery
Immediately after surgery, your chest will be wrapped in a compression garment to reduce swelling, and you will receive a detailed aftercare plan and prescriptions for painkillers. Once you have been stabilized, you will need a friend, family member, or helper to drive you home.
This person should stay with you for the first 24 hours, which can be the most challenging phase of recovery. Soreness, swelling, and bruising will peak in the first few days and slowly fade over time. Make sure to get plenty of rest, drink water, and go for gentle walks, which can boost both circulation and mood.
Avoid intimacy for around 2 weeks and postpone strenuous exercise for 4-6 weeks. It is suggested that you sleep on your back for 6 weeks to protect the implants.

Breast Implant Profile Options
When choosing a breast implant profile, one of our board-certified surgeons will speak with you in detail about your goals for your breasts and for your appearance overall. For instance:
- Are you looking for natural-looking results or a more dramatic outcome?
- Is prominent cleavage an important goal for you?
- Do you prefer a fuller, rounder breast appearance?
High Profile
This implant type offers the most significant amount of projection for a more noticeably “augmented” appearance.
Moderate Profile
Moderate profile implants will provide you with increased volume & roundness, but look more natural with less projection.
Low Profile
The low profile breast implant is often considered to be the most natural-looking implant option, with the least amount of projection.
Breast Augmentation Testimonial
"I was referred to Dr. Niccole by a friend of mine. He did my breast aug two weeks ago and I can honestly say it was such an easy, painless process. I am very happy with the outcome and would highly recommend him to anyone considering a BA. I had very minimal pain post-surgery and I am very impressed by how professional everyone in the office has been. CosmetiCare is definitely a place that really cares about its patients."
