Juvederm fillers can last anywhere from six months to two years. Their longevity is dependent on where it’s placed, which type of Juvederm filler you choose, and how quickly your body metabolizes it. Everybody is different! Procedure and Recovery
Preparation Before the Procedure
Before getting Juvederm Volux, the patient should avoid the use of blood thinners, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, for at least a week. This ultimately reduces the risk of bruising or bleeding during the procedure. It is also recommended that patients refrain from drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes for a few days leading up to the treatment.
The Procedure
The Juvederm Volux treatment usually takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes to carry out. The doctor will first sterilize the targeted area and apply a numbing cream in order to ensure minimal discomfort. Then, the Juvederm Volux gel will be injected into the treatment areas by way of a fine needle (cannula). The doctor will carefully monitor the progress of the treatment to ensure the desired results are achieved.
Recovery Period
Following the procedure, it is normal for patients to experience some swelling, redness, and bruising in the treated areas. It only takes a few days for these effects to subside. If there is excessive swelling or discomfort, applying an ice pack to the treatment site can reduce it. Patients should steer clear of strenuous exercise, drinking alcohol, and going in the sun for at least 24 hours following the procedure.
