What is BOTOX?

When injected, BOTOX can erase pesky glabellar lines in the forehead as well as crow’s feet around the eyes. These dynamic lines form while the face is in motion and are the result of repetitive muscle contractions related to squinting, smiling, laughing, and frowning.

While it’s always good to experience and express your emotions, no one enjoys looking older than they feel. BOTOX in Newport Beach can rewind the clock on facial aging, allowing patients to love how they look and feel more confident in their social and professional lives.

How does BOTOX work?

BOTOX is a neuromodulator formulated with purified botulinum toxin. When injected into the tiny facial muscles, it interrupts nerve signals to the brain telling the muscles to contract. Once the muscles are temporarily deactivated, the skin smooths out, creating a more youthful and attractive countenance. The effect of BOTOX typically wears off in about 3-5 months, at which point the patient can choose to continue their injections or return to their original look.

Who makes a good candidate for BOTOX?

Ideal candidates for BOTOX are physically and emotionally healthy individuals with no history of neuromuscular disorders. They must be at least 18 years old and not be pregnant or nursing. Our team at the CosmetiCare Medspa will carefully assess your candidacy during a private consultation to ensure BOTOX is the right choice for you. BOTOX is typically contraindicated for those with weakness in the targeted muscle groups, entrenched facial scarring, overly thick facial skin, pronounced facial asymmetry, and untreated skin disorders or conditions.

What will my treatment entail?

BOTOX is a simple in-office procedure that takes just minutes to perform, allowing patients to immediately resume their normal schedules afterward. Skin numbing is always available to you to maximize your peace of mind and comfort, but BOTOX needles are extremely thin and most patients don’t require any type of topical anesthesia.

Once you are ready, your provider will inject BOTOX in the predetermined points according to your unique treatment plan. You might feel a split-second pinch as the needle goes in, but that’s it. After your session, small red bumps may arise at the injection site. Rest assured, these will subside within a few hours.

After BOTOX

There is no recovery or downtime after BOTOX, which is why many patients undergo the treatment over their lunch breaks and then get right back to school or work. Minor bruising or swelling may develop, but these symptoms soon fade within a few hours or by the next day. You will start seeing results in around 3-7 days with changes continuing to improve over the next few weeks. Post-procedure tips include the following:

  • Stay upright for the first 4 hours after your session
  • Avoid rubbing, massaging, or picking at your skin
  • Avoid wearing makeup for 24 hours
  • Refrain from strenuous exercise for the first 12 hours
  • Postpone drinking alcohol for 24 hours after your injections
  • Don’t undergo any facials or beauty treatments for at least 2 weeks
  • Avoid exposure to intense heat (sun, tanning, saunas, etc.) for 2 weeks
  • Also avoid extremely cold temperatures for a few weeks

Patient Testimonial

I researched plenty of places and nothing compared to CosmetiCare's customer service. They answered all my filler and Botox questions. My RN was beyond amazing! She was quick, gentle, and I could see the results immediately!

Can you undergo BOTOX while you’re pregnant or nursing?

Will my face look unnatural after BOTOX?

Our highly skilled, credentialed providers understand the value of nuance and inject your skin conservatively, preserving your individuality and the natural spontaneity of your facial expressions. We strive to make patients look just like themselves – only more rested, rejuvenated, and revitalized.

Will I build up resistance to BOTOX if I repeat my treatments?

Developing a resistance to BOTOX is extremely rare. In cases where BOTOX is incorrectly administered or the substance itself has been over-diluted or poorly stored, your results may be negatively impacted.

Can you undergo BOTOX while you’re pregnant or nursing?

Our team advises mothers not to undergo BOTOX injections, as the effect on the child is unknown. It’s always best to be on the safe side.
