Xeomin®

Xeomin is a leading neuromodulator that is often used as an alternative to BOTOX or Dysport. It provides patients with relief from age-related dynamic lines in the forehead and around the eyes by temporarily blocking the signal from the brain to the muscles responsible for wrinkle-forming contractions.

Xeomin comes with no downtime and can be performed over your lunch break in around 30 minutes. It is an excellent solution for erasing lines formed while the face is in motion (laughing, crying, frowning, smiling, squinting, etc.) Results typically last 3-5 months, and the treatment can be repeated to maintain your more youthful look over time. We provide Xeomin in Newport Beach & Orange County at our Cosmeticare Medspa.

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin is an FDA-approved injectable chosen to combat entrenched wrinkles and lines that form as a result of repetitive muscle contractions in the face. Because of its purer formulation, it is often used for patients who are no longer responding well to BOTOX because of built-up tolerance. Xeomin is ideal for addressing glabellar lines in the forehead and crow’s feet around the eyes.

How does Xeomin work?

Xeomin works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that tell the facial muscles to contract. With the muscle action disabled, the skin smooths out, and wrinkles are softened. Repeated treatments with Xeomin can provide longer-term relief from the signs of aging.

How does Xeomin differ from BOTOX?

Xeomin acts in a similar fashion to BOTOX but has a slightly different formulation. It has been called a “naked” version of BOTOX because it only contains one ingredient: Botulinum toxin A. BOTOX contains botulinum toxin A but is also made up of protective proteins. For those who have built up a tolerance to BOTOX, Xeomin’s purer formula may be the answer they’ve been looking for.

There are a few more differences between Xeomin and BOTOX. Results last roughly the same amount of time, but changes with Xeomin are typically seen within about 4 days. With BOTOX, results may be evident within 3 days. Lastly, Xeomin does not require refrigeration, whereas BOTOX does.

Ideal candidates are healthy non-smokers with realistic, positive attitudes toward their results.

What Can I Expect After Xeomin?

After Xeomin injections, patients are free to resume their normal activities, whether that means returning to work, school, shopping, or just enjoying the day. Busy patients appreciate that they can get in and out of the office for their Xeomin appointment with little fuss. Minor swelling, redness, or soreness may occur at the injection sites, but these side effects tend to disappear quickly and are not usually severe enough to prohibit the patient from promptly reengaging with the world after their session. Our team will follow up with you to ensure you are comfortable and content with your outcome.
