What Is Jawline Slimming?

Jawline slimming is a general term for a variety of cosmetic treatments meant to enhance the contours of the jawline and chin. These treatments are aimed at tightening loose skin, adding natural-looking volume, and eliminating excess fat around the jawline and submental area.

Our Jawline Slimming Treatments

Depending on your specific jawline slimming needs, you can choose from the following treatments that we offer at CosmetiCare:

Masseter Botox

Botox is an injectable neurotoxin used to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and create smoother, more youthful-looking facial skin. The masseter is the muscle that connects your cheekbone to your lower jawbone. When Botox is injected into the masseter muscle, it can enhance the contours of the jawline and create a more balanced facial appearance. Masseter Botox can also have other benefits, such as alleviating teeth grinding and jaw tension.

Juvéderm Volux

Juvéderm Volux is a dermal filler and the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based filler used for adding volume and definition to the jawline. With results that can last more than a year, Volux smooths fine lines and wrinkles while enhancing the contours of the jawline and the overall structure of the lower face.

Juvéderm Voluma

Juvéderm Voluma is another hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler in the Juvéderm collection. Although Voluma is most commonly used to add volume and definition to the cheeks, it’s also very effective for improving the shape and contours of the chin. The results of this minimally invasive treatment look exceptionally natural and can last for up to two years.

Kybella

Kybella is the perfect treatment option for anyone dealing with the appearance of a “double chin” due to excess fat in the submental area. This injectable treatment is made with deoxycholic acid, which targets and destroys the excess fat cells beneath the chin. Kybella also prevents the submental area from being able to store excess fat in the future, which allows it to provide very long-lasting results.

Benefits of Jawline Contouring

Depending on which specific treatment you choose, jawline slimming can offer a variety of notable benefits. The primary benefits of these treatments include:

  • Slimmer, more youthful-looking chin and jawline
  • Tightens loose, sagging skin
  • Enhances the contours and definition of the chin and jawline
  • Eliminates excess submental fat
  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improves overall facial balance
  • Improves the profile appearance
  • Long-lasting results
  • Minimally invasive treatment
  • Little to no recovery downtime
  • Increased self-confidence
  • Eliminates the appearance of a double chin

What Should I Expect During the Treatment?

If you’re interested in jawline slimming treatment, you can start the process by having a consultation with one of our medical providers at CosmetiCare. During the consultation, they will examine your chin and jawline and ask you about your specific aesthetic goals. They will then discuss your different jawline slimming treatment options with you to help you determine which one is the best fit for your needs. Your provider will also have questions about your current health, medical history, allergies, and any medications you’re taking to ensure that you’re a good candidate for our jawline slimming procedures.

Once you’ve had your consultation and your provider has created a custom-tailored treatment plan, your jawline slimming treatment will be a quick and simple outpatient procedure. To begin, a topical numbing cream will be applied to your skin around the treatment area. Your provider will then use a very fine needle to inject the Botox, Juvéderm, or Kybella into your skin around the jawline and/or chin. Overall the procedure should only take approximately 15 to 30 minutes, and you can return home immediately after it’s finished.

How Long Is the Recovery Time?

Although the recovery period can differ slightly depending on which jawline slimming treatment you undergo, these procedures typically require very little recovery time. You may experience some swelling, bruising, redness, and soreness following the treatment, and your provider will give you detailed instructions for the healing process. You should be able to return to work and your normal routine within a day or two, and it’s advised that you avoid strenuous physical activity for at least 24 hours.

Am I a Candidate for Jawline Slimming?

Adults who would like to enhance the volume and definition of their jawline could be good candidates for jawline slimming. Ideal candidates for the treatment should:

  • Be in generally good physical health
  • Have the desire for a slimmer, more youthful-looking jawline and/or chin
  • Have loose, sagging skin around the jawline
  • Have excess submental fat
  • Have realistic expectations for the treatment
  • Have no active skin infections near the treatment area
  • Have no allergies to hyaluronic acid, deoxycholic acid, or botulinum toxin depending on your chosen treatment

How Long Will It Take To See Results After Jawline Slimming Treatment?

The results of your jawline slimming procedure will depend on which specific treatment you choose to undergo. Typically, though, you can expect to start seeing improvements in your jawline definition within only a few days, and the final results should be visible in around one to two weeks.

With masseter Botox, you can expect the results to last for around three to four months. The effects of Juvéderm Voluma and Volux usually last for around one to two years, and the results of Kybella will often last for several years or even a lifetime.
