All About Liposuction For Men in Orange County

Shirtless Man with Incision Marks

Many men choose liposuction to treat localized pockets of fat in the abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, and even the face and neck. This procedure can be an excellent choice for individuals who work hard to eat right and stay in shape but are still disappointed with fat deposits that just won’t go away with diet and exercise alone. Male liposuction removes unwanted fat and also improves overall body shape, leaving you with a toned and masculine appearance that will see you feeling confident and attractive like never before. To learn more about how liposuction can help you enjoy your ideal figure, reach out to CosmetiCare at our Newport Beach location and set up your consultation with a helpful member of our team today.

When to Consider Liposuction for Men

After doing the research, many people find that liposuction is a good choice for them. Some of the best results are seen in patients of normal weight with good, firm skin elasticity.

After determining you are a candidate for surgery, your doctor will go over treatment options, including Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction (UAL), Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL), and Tumescent Liposuction.

Many of our patients who come to us from Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Irvine, and beyond are considering liposuction, and may also choose to have other plastic surgery procedures, including tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). If you are looking for more comprehensive improvement in your body shape, be sure to talk with your surgeon during your consultation, so they can recommend complementary procedures.

It’s important to keep in mind that liposuction does not replace healthy eating habits and regular exercise. Instead, choose liposuction for the body contouring benefits that may be hard to achieve otherwise. Liposuction removes fat cells permanently, so if you gain weight after the procedure, it usually will not concentrate in the area that was treated. However, liposuction will not prevent you from regaining weight in the future.

Our Liposuction Techniques

Prior to the development of newer liposuction methods, the extraction of fat was performed without the “wet” or fluid-injected technique. This meant that surgery was performed without placing any fluid in the body. This limited the amount of fat that could safely be removed due to bleeding. This technique also caused more bruising, swelling and pain. Take a look at some of the advanced liposuction techniques we offer at CosmetiCare in Orange County.

Fluid-Injected Liposuction

The Fluid-Injected Tumescent liposuction technique is much more common today. This technique uses a medicated solution that is injected into fatty areas before the fat is removed. This allows for the removal of larger amounts of fat more safely and easily, resulting in less blood loss, bruising, and pain.

Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction

The Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction technique uses a surgical wand with a tip that produces ultrasonic energy. This creates sound waves that cause fatty tissue to break up and liquefy, making it easier to extract. For patients with specific areas of concern such as the buttocks or abdomen, the doctor may recommend Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction.

Power-Assisted Liposuction

PAL uses a motorized liposuction wand that oscillates, vibrating back and forth to break up fat deposits with mechanical energy. The PAL cannula is smaller, resulting in smaller scars and the surgery requires less time than other liposuction techniques. This technique is also used in conjunction with the tumescent liposuction method and helps to facilitate the removal of fat in more fibrous, difficult areas including the upper abdomen, back, waist, and love handles.

How much does liposuction for men cost?

The first area of liposuction at CosmetiCare in Newport Beach starts at $2,980 + $2,100 per area thereafter. Your cost will vary based on the number of areas being treated, size of the areas being treated, the amount of fat being removed, and if you’ve had liposuction before. We also offer up to 24-month financing options to help our patients pay off the cost of their procedure over time. In just minutes, you can apply here [hyperlink to Financing page] to see what you are pre-qualified for before your consultation.

Why isn’t exact surgical procedure pricing available on the website?

Every patient’s anatomy is different and the complexity of each surgery varies from patient to patient as well as the total time in the operating room. We are able to give you a general range & starting price for the procedure however a consultation with our plastic surgeons will give you a closer estimate.

Does Liposuction permanently remove fat?

While liposuction at CosmetiCare in Orange County permanently removes fat cells, remaining fat cells can expand, or new ones can form if you gain weight.

Is Liposuction better than a Tummy Tuck?

Each procedure addresses different concerns:

  • Liposuction removes fat cells but needs good skin elasticity for optimal results.
  • Tummy tuck removes skin and fat, making this a good option for saggy belly and skin often associated with post-childbearing.

During your consultation, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons will assess which procedure, if not both together, would be ideal to achieve your desired results.

Is Liposuction better than CoolSculpting for fat removal?

This comes down to two main things:

  • Surgical vs. Non-Surgical
  • Spot Treatment vs. Larger Area

Liposuction is a popular surgical procedure that can remove small to larger volumes of excess fat. CoolSculpting is a popular non-surgical treatment that exclusively spot-treats small areas of concentrated fat cells.

When considering each, note that patients that have opted for the non-surgical route often require multiple treatments spaced out over time and rarely see as dramatic of results compared to what one Liposuction procedure can achieve.

How Will I Look & Feel Afterwards?

  • You should be able to return to work within a few days and to your full range of normal activities within about two weeks.
  • Residual fluid drainage will occur from the incision sites during the first 24 hours.
  • Stitches are usually removed within the first week.
  • Some degree of bruising, swelling, and soreness should last for at least a few weeks.
  • Some improvement to body shape will be seen shortly after the procedure, with additional improvement after about four to six weeks, after most of the swelling has gone down. Subtle improvements will continue for about three months.

What Else do I Need to Know?

If you have additional questions about liposuction surgery, take a few minutes to read through our liposuction FAQs to learn more about the procedure. Of course, if you still have questions, we are happy to help you get the answers you need. Get in touch with us to schedule a consultation for more information.

How long will my results last?

For optimal, long-lasting results of liposuction, we recommend maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This should include eating healthy and working out once cleared by your surgeon post-procedure.

When any amount of weight is gained after liposuction, it’s common to see a redistribution of fat – with new fat cells developing – in other areas of the body and can affect the treated area(s) as well. In most cases, even with slight weight gain, the treated area(s) will still look better than before liposuction.

Is liposuction a good way to lose weight? Should I lose weight before getting Liposuction?

Liposuction is not meant to be a “weight-loss” procedure but rather to help reshape and contour the treated area(s). We recommend patients be at or within 10 – 15 lbs. of their goal weight before liposuction surgery, treating the stubborn, unresponsive fat cells to help eliminate them.

When will I see my results?

Improved body contour can be noticed immediately in some patients, especially when treating saddlebags. However, swelling will improve dramatically after six weeks and continue to dissipate over the next six months. After which, you’ll continue healing for up to a year – which is when 100% results are realized.

Should I be at a certain BMI before having surgery?

Patient safety is always our highest priority and it is recommended that patients reach or be close to a BMI of 30 in order to have surgery. However, there may be some exceptions that can be made based on the patient’s anatomy & overall general health. This can be further discussed with our medical professionals during your in-person consultation.

Will Insurance cover Liposuction?

Liposuction surgery is considered a cosmetic procedure, so insurance typically doesn’t cover this. If cost is of concern, we offer financing options to help our patients pay off the cost of their procedure over time. In just minutes, you can apply here [hyperlink to Financing page] to see what you are pre-qualified for before your consultation.
