All About Liposuction

Also known as ”Mastopexy,” this surgical procedure is ideal for correcting sagging, drooping breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple to a “perkier” placement. Most popular amongst women who have breastfed children or those that have undergone significant weight loss. Those also looking to restore lost volume choose to get implants with their lift.

Decisions

We understand what a personal choice choosing to modify your body is and additionally, the process you’ll go through in making a final decision.

Let us help shed light on the decisions you and your surgeon will make together:

Fluid Injected Liposuction

Tumescent Lipo allows for larger amounts of fat removal, with less bruising and swelling than traditional methods.

Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction

Utilizes sound waves to break up and liquefy fat deposits in what used to be more difficult spots to treat.

Power Assisted Liposuction

PAL allows deeper tissue penetration through the use of a vibrating surgical wand.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is Liposuction in Orange County?

Starting Cost:
First area $2,980 + $2,100 per area thereafter

Your cost will vary based on number of areas being treated, size of the areas being treated, the amount of fat being removed, and if you’ve had liposuction before.

At your consultation, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons will prescribe the perfect treatment plan and provide you with an estimate to achieve your aesthetic goals.

We also offer up to 24-month financing options to help our patients pay off the cost of their procedure over time. In just minutes, you can apply here to see what you are pre-qualified for before your consultation.

How long will Liposuction results last?

For optimal, long-lasting results, we recommend maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This should include eating healthy and working out once cleared by your surgeon post-procedure.

When any amount of weight is gained after liposuction, it’s common to see a redistribution of fat – with new fat cells developing – in other areas of the body and can affect the treated area(s) as well.

In most cases, even with slight weight gain, the treated area(s) will still look better than before liposuction.

At your consultation, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons will discuss the procedure, outlining the recovery and healing process along with realistic expectations so you leave well equipped to make the best decision.

Is liposuction a good way to lose weight? Should I lose weight before getting Liposuction?

Liposuction is not meant to be a “weight-loss” procedure but rather to help reshape and contour the treated area(s).

We recommend patients be at or within 10 – 15 lbs. of their goal weight before liposuction surgery, treating the stubborn, unresponsive fat cells to help eliminate them.

At your consultation, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons will discuss the procedure, outlining the recovery and healing process along with realistic expectations so you leave well equipped to make the best decision.

What other procedures are typically combined with liposuction?

Liposuction and a Tummy Tuck as part of a Mommy Makeover is the most popular combo procedure.

At your consultation, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons will help guide you to the best procedure and combination thereof to achieve your best results.

When will I see Liposuction results?

Improved body contour can be noticed immediately in some patients, especially when treating saddlebags. However, swelling will improve dramatically after six weeks and continue to dissipate over the next six months. After which, you’ll continue healing for up to a year – which is when 100% results are realized.

At your consultation, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons will discuss the procedure, outlining the recovery and healing process along with realistic expectations so you leave well equipped to make the best decision.

Are There Different Kinds of Lipo?

Yes, liposuction is most often performed in one of three ways:

  • Tumescent Lipo allows for larger amounts of fat removal, with less bruising and swelling than traditional methods.
  • Ultrasonic-Assisted Lipo (UAL) utilizes sound waves to break up and liquefy fat deposits in trouble spots.
  • Power-Assisted Lipo (PAL) allows deeper tissue penetration through the use of a vibrating surgical wand.
What Are the Benefits?

Liposuction eliminates stubborn fat pockets that can make your body look out of proportion. In many cases, lipo does what diet and exercise alone cannot. The end result is a smooth and sculpted contour. Also, unlike more involved procedures such as a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), liposuction is a relatively quick procedure with a rapid recovery time.

Is Lipo Like Weight Loss?

Although liposuction does even out your shape, it is not a replacement for a healthful diet and regular exercise. Liposuction is designed for patients who already enjoy a healthy lifestyle, yet are struggling with a few remaining fat deposits. Lipo is a toning procedure, not a weight loss alternative.

What Is Liposuction?

A cosmetic surgery procedure, liposuction removes excess fat deposits that sit between your muscles and your skin. Specific areas of the body are targeted to improve your body contours, resulting in cleaner lines and a more fine-tuned appearance. Patients find that they can enjoy a shapelier figure and a renewed sense of confidence in their looks as well.

Does Liposuction permanently remove fat?

While liposuction permanently removes fat cells, remaining fat cells can expand, or new ones can form if you gain weight.

Is Liposuction better than a Tummy Tuck?

Each procedure solves different concerns:

– Liposuction removes fat cells but needs good skin elasticity for optimal results.

– Tummy tuck removes skin and fat, making this a good option for saggy belly and skin often associated with post-childbearing.

During your consultation, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons will assess which procedure, if not both together, would be ideal to achieve your desired results.

Is Liposuction better than CoolSculpting for fat removal?

This comes down to two main things:

1) Surgical vs. Non-Surgical
2) Spot Treatment vs. Larger Area

Liposuction is a popular surgical procedure that can remove small to larger volumes of excess fat.

CoolSculpting is a popular non-surgical treatment that exclusively spot-treats small areas of concentrated fat cells.

When considering each, note that patients that have opted for the non-surgical route often require multiple treatments spaced out over time and rarely see as dramatic of results compared to what one Liposuction procedure can achieve.

Will Insurance cover Liposuction?

Liposuction surgery is considered a cosmetic procedure, so insurance typically doesn’t cover this.

If cost is of concern, we offer financing options to help our patients pay off the cost of their procedure over time. In just minutes, you can apply here to see what you are pre-qualified for before your consultation.

Where Is Liposuction Most Effective?

Popular sculpting areas women often choose are the neck, arms, abdomen, thighs and hips. Male patients typically want to improve the appearance of the love handles, abdomen, chin and neck areas. During an initial consultation, our surgical team works with you to determine which fat deposits to eliminate for ideal results.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Patients considering liposuction should be in good health and overall good shape, with just a few trouble spots of unwanted fat. Stubborn love handles are a good example of an area that can be reshaped with lipo. However, it’s important to keep realistic expectations. This procedure can sculpt your body, but it can’t help you become healthier or lose weight.

How Long Is the Recovery Process?

Although every patient is different, most are generally ready to return to a light activity schedule a few days after their procedure. Stitches come out within the first week, and more involved activities can be resumed a few short weeks later. At first, to help reduce swelling, patients will wear a compression garment as the body heals.

Is There Scarring?

Since the surgical wand used during the procedure is quite small, only a few very tiny incisions are needed. Physical appearance will be toned and natural-looking in patients with good skin elasticity. It’s our goal to keep scarring to an absolute minimum.
