All About BioTE Hormone Replacement Therapy in Orange County

As we get older, many of us simply blame it on age when we get tired easily or put on extra pounds that are hard to lose. Some of us suffer from insomnia or increased stress. And then there’s the drop in libido. Oftentimes we’re just not interested in sex anymore. We can feel moody or even depressed, or experience memory loss and poor concentration. Did you know that many times, hormonal imbalance is the root cause of these symptoms?

This imbalance can occur due to natural changes, including menopause in women and a drop in testosterone in men. Additionally, environmental toxins and diet can accelerate hormone imbalance and the symptoms that follow. The good news is that diminished quality of life isn’t something you have to accept. If your hormones are imbalanced, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy may be an effective solution for you.

What Are Bioidentical Hormones?

Bioidentical hormones are hormones derived from plants. They are structurally the same as the hormones found within the human body. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) uses these hormones to help address symptoms related to hormonal imbalance. Common hormones that are matched are estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. The symptoms of hormone imbalance can be frustrating to experience, but Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, or BHRT, can help many patients live a normal life.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy may offer relief for many common and debilitating symptoms that are often overlooked by other medical providers. Some of these symptoms include exhaustion, stress, brain fog, weight gain, sleep disturbances, and many other conditions. These ailments may be managed by getting to the root cause and returning you to a state of hormone balance.

Why Pellets vs. Creams:

  • They deliver a steady state of hormones- no “roller coaster” effect
  • No increased rate of breast or prostate cancer
  • No increased rate of heart attack, blood clots, or stroke
  • No significant weight gain

How Hormone Therapy Works for You

Hormones are chemicals made by parts of the body called glands. They are messengers that tell other parts of the body how and when to work. Hormones control almost all tasks in the body relating to regulation. These include sex and brain function, growth, and the breakdown of food. When hormones are out of balance, symptoms can occur.

How BioTe Works

Hormone therapy includes a comprehensive consultation and extensive lab work to review your current hormone levels, health history, symptoms, and needs. A custom treatment plan will then be prepared and every dose will be tailored to your unique needs.

The procedure itself involves subcutaneous pellet insertion and only takes about 10 minutes to complete. It is virtually painless and quick. Your labs will be repeated at four weeks for men and six weeks for women, to record your responsiveness to the treatment and adjust if needed.

Our provider will work very closely with you to ensure you received optimized benefits. Women receiving estradiol pellet therapy will also receive oral progesterone. The benefits can be physical, mental, and emotional. As each patient’s symptoms are unique so is each patient’s path to hormone optimization.

Before BioTe, we were both exhausted and had no energy to connect as a couple. After having the treatment done, we both feel refreshed, energized, and ready to get our lives back on track. It sounds cheesy but BioTe actually gave us that "spark" back that we so desperately needed both individually, and as a couple.

How will I look and feel afterward?

Our approach to Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy at CosmetiCare in Orange County is customized to each patient’s unique physiology, allowing patients to get the most out of their treatment as possible. Some patients begin to feel the benefits of hormone therapy right away, while others won’t experience hormone therapy benefits for a few months. Full hormone optimization can take up to six months, depending on your individual needs, as well as the plan you and your provider decide to proceed with.

What are bio-identical hormones?

Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)at CosmetiCare in Newport Beach is the use of supplemental doses of hormones that derive from plant sources that have identical chemical structures to the hormones we produce naturally.

How often do I need to get pelleted?

For women, typically every three to four months. For men, every four to five months.

When will I start to feel my BioTE results?

Although every patient experience is slightly different, many patients report feeling a change within the first two to four weeks, however full hormone optimization can take up to six months.

How much does BioTe cost?

  • Pellets for women: $500

Is there downtime with BioTE?

There is practically no downtime after this treatment. However, we recommend not practicing any strenuous exercise or prolonged water exposure for the first few days after pellet insertion.

What does a BioTE treatment look like?

Patients are first cleaned and numbed at the site of insertion (typically the butt cheek). Once fully numbed, our practitioners will make a very small incision to insert the pellets (these pellets are about the size of a grain of rice).

Once inserted, we cover the site with a bandage, and that’s it! This treatment takes no longer than 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
