Labiaplasty and Why More Women Want it

Labiaplasty is a procedure that is performed by an Orange County plastic surgeon that people get for cosmetic or practical purposes. During this procedure, excess labia minora tissue that is troublesome for women is trimmed. Even though it is not out of the ordinary to have long or multiple folds of labia minora, some women do not like it when some of their labia peek out of their bathing suit or thong underwear.

Other reasons that a woman may choose to have this labiaplasty in Orange County (or in any city in America) are physical discomfort while they are wearing yoga pants, when they are having sex, or while they are riding a bicycle. When a woman has the excess tissue removed from their labia, it makes it possible for the interior lips of the vagina (also known as the labia minora) to be able to be tucked up neatly inside the outer lips of the vagina (also known as the labia majora).

Women who choose to get this procedure done may also have a really large, oddly shaped, asymmetrical, or a droopy labia. A lot of potential candidates for this operation also have a labia minora that is longer than the labia majora. Along with dissatisfaction about how their labia look a woman may want a labiaplasty because they have physical discomfort (chafing, itching), numbness or pain during physical activities (like riding a bike or jogging), and trouble getting clean.

The ladies that choose to have a labiaplasty because they do not want to wear tight clothing because of a labia bulge, they have problems during sexual intercourse, they have no interest in sex, or they have low self-esteem. They may also feel self-conscious about changing clothes at the gym or club. Some women even have to move the extra skin of the labia minora and mucosa out of the way so they can pee straight.

No matter the reason a woman has for having this procedure done, they can take comfort knowing that this surgery is done in less than an hour and leaves little or no scarring behind. Most physicians tell their patients that have this surgery done to take a long weekend (Saturday-Monday) off. They also advise them to not exercise for two to three weeks and do not have sexual intercourse for four to six weeks.

Women also need to wait until they are eighteen years of age or until they have reached sexual maturation before they have this surgery done. They also need to have the surgery done for the right reasons and not just because their labia bothers them for a short amount of time.
