Winter to Spring Skincare

Hello spring! The weather is changing and we’re seeing more sunshine that simply warms our hearts.  As winter chills turn to springtime thrills, your skin’s needs are changing too. Yep, the rumors are true: switching up your skincare routine each season is crucial for your skin’s health!

Since you’ve probably spent the cold months layering your skin with face oils, balms, serums and lots of thick moisturizers, we’ve got some much needed advice for you.

It’s obvious that spending time outside in the cold brisk air can be drying, but even worse for your skin is the dry, overheated indoor environment that many of us sleep and work in. Yikes! Now that we’re moving into enjoying the warmer months once again (just think of all the fun you can have under the sun), it’s time to start tweaking your skincare routine to help your skin transition. Here are our top DIY tips on how to keep your skin happy just in time for the new season.

Humidifier for Skincare

1. Buy a humidifier. A humidifier is one beauty tool it pays to invest in. Sleep with a humidifier in your bedroom and it will add just enough moisture to the environment to give your skin the chance to do some real healing. For those who are afraid of the bacteria that can sometimes accumulate in a humidifier, try a little one that attaches to a mini water bottle.  Don’t let fear stop you from doing what’s best for your skin!

Avocado for Skincare

2. Take advantage of a skin superfood. Incorporating avocado oil into your skincare regimen is great for extra nourishment. It contains so many amazing vitamins for the skin and lymphatic system, so it will de-puff, hydrate, and soothe the skin. In other words, allow yourself the extra side of guac at Chipotle!

Showers for Skincare

3. Avoid “too hot” showers. Take lukewarm — instead of steaming hot — showers.  Extreme temperatures of any kind on the skin can throw off its delicate balance. This can lead to dry patches and uncomfortable dehydrated skin.  Shower with lukewarm water and your skin will thank you by staying smooth and hydrated.

Eye Cream for Skincare

4. Give extra care to delicate skin areas. Pay extra attention to dry, delicate, and fragile areas — like the skin around your eyes. Skin needs more TLC after the winter because the cold weather is extremely drying. Dry skin is so fragile, and you have to do more to protect your lipid layer.  We suggest adding an extra eye cream to your skincare routine that contains soothing ingredients and anti-aging properties.
