24 Hours Post Operation

It has been 24 hours since my Liposuction surgery, and I am already feeling great. I have spent most of my first day sleeping and getting up every four hours to walk a little and to take my pain medication. I was hoping to start weaning myself off the pain medication today, but it is still too sensitive around my abdominal area to start weaning off the pain medication.

This morning, I had my post-op appointment with Dr. Champion at CosmetiCare. I was feeling a little nauseous in the car ride over to the office and was able to manage that with some anti-nausea medication.

The Reveal

When I arrived at CosmetiCare, the staff was so kind and immediately took me back to one of the rooms. I looked a little frightening from the thick layer of white cream they put on my face during the surgery because of the CO2 laser I had done while I was under sedation.

Once I was in the room, one of the nurses came in to help take off my bandages. After my surgery, they had put me in a full body compression garmet. As she took off the bodysuit, I could feel some discomfort as my skin shifted from being nice and tight to loose and free. It was just a few minutes of discomfort, and then I felt myself again.

The nurse looked over my incisions and advised me that everything looked great. She then helped me into a paper gown and assisted me comfortably on the medical chair while I awaited the arrival of Dr. Champion.

Tears of Joy

Once Dr. Champion came in, she looked at my body and shared how happy she was with the results. She brought me over to the mirror to see myself for the first time, and tears of joy rolled down my cheeks. I couldn’t believe that I was seeing my pre-baby body again for the first time in over ten years. My thighs were perfectly contoured, and my stomach was flatter than I had ever seen before. In fact, my stomach was smaller than I ever could have remembered.

After looking over my incisions, Dr. Champion decided to add some extra padding on my stomach for a couple of days to help keep the skin in my stomach from sagging. The padding is about a 2″ piece of soft foam. Once the nurse added the extra padding on my stomach, I felt the added comfort and support that I needed, which helped with some of my pain too.

Dr. Champion advised me to get up and be as active as possible to help with my recovery process. I also have some minor swelling, so I need to drink as much water as possible along with a low-fat diet. Since my surgery, I have just been eating vegetables and protein to help starve the fat cells that were damaged in the surgery.

Before leaving, the nurses advised me that I could remove the thick white cream on my face and begin using the Alastin Skincare kit that I had purchased from CosmetiCare. They went over the care instructions for my face and told me to stay out of the sun for the next week while it heals.
