When Is The Right Time To Start BOTOX?

By Mary Tran

I think most people know about BOTOX injections and what it is. It has been available for a long time, and when we think about aging, we think about BOTOX, but when is the right time to start? It will be different for everyone, and what I have learned recently from visiting Cosmeticare Medspa in Corona Del Mar is that you can start young or whenever you feel comfortable especially if you know crows feet, deep lines, or wrinkles runs in your family. It is a temporary procedure that slows down aging.

When I was younger, I thought it was cool I could make facial expressions my friends couldn’t do. Now that I’m in my 40’s those expressions are no longer cute, I keep thinking if I don’t stop, it will give me wrinkles. I just want to slow down the aging. BOTOX will freeze those muscles, giving me a more rested and youthful look. I was overdue for another visit so even though it was hard with the children home for summer break, I needed to do something for myself. BOTOX has now become part of my self-care routine.

The procedure was as quick as I remembered. My specialist evaluated my situation and addressed all my concerns before we started. It wasn’t painless but fast. We iced it first, and she took about 30 seconds to do the injections. There were other areas we could have treated but I only wanted to focus on my 11’s. The appointment from start to finish took about 15 minutes which included the consultation. There is no downtime and it takes time for it to take effect. She said I will see it most effective in 4 weeks, and it will last for about 3 months. The only thing I couldn’t do was lay down for the next 5 hours because we want the solution to work downwards. I received about 20 units on my 11’s like last time, but others have told me they needed more because their lines were deep. Other areas I might try next time is my forehead and crows feet (around my eyes).

After the quick procedure, I did bleed a little, but as you can see, it stopped bleeding soon after. Be sure to breathe. I almost fainted the first time because I was so nervous. Starting BOTOX will be different for everyone but it can start as soon as you want and as soon as you realize you can prevent it for becoming a problem down the line. BOTOX is not a permanent solution, but it will temporarily slow down the aging process. For more information about BOTOX at Cosmeticare, please visit their website.
