48 Hours After Liposuction Surgery

It has been 48 hours since having Liposuction at CosmetiCare, and I am still suffering from some pain that has been well managed with pain medication. I woke-up feeling gross and stinky, ready to have my first shower. Today was all about the “first shower.” It was not an easy process and took both my husband and daughter to help.

After the surgery, I was put into a full body suit. Inside of the bodysuit is soft pieces of foam and cotton to help ensure that my stomach surgery maintains the contouring that Dr. Champion worked so hard to achieve for me.

When it came to taking off the bodysuit, my husband and daughter went very slow. They carefully took off the hooks and zippers and then removed the foam and cotton. I made one big mistake that I don’t recommend, and that was looking in the mirror. I saw big nasty bruises (that the doctor advised me I would have) but I got a little squeamish and had to sit down for a few minutes before getting into the shower.

When they took the body suit off, I felt my body shifting in a sense. It was a weird feeling, but nothing that I couldn’t manage. It was very uncomfortable in the shower to move around or wash my hair, but my husband and daughter helped to wash my body (with nonbacterial soap) and hair. I don’t know how I would have done it without them!

After the shower, I was exhausted. It took both my husband and daughter to secure me back into my bodysuit, and I put on some clean clothes before going back to bed for a couple of hours. So far, the shower has been the hardest part of the recovery process. I plan to shower every other day before returning to CosmetiCare for my one-week follow-up. When taking your first shower, I recommend doing it after you have had a good rest, ensuring that you have people to help you and take a pain pill about 30 minutes before to alleviate the discomfort. Other than my shower, I spent the rest of the day sleeping except getting up every four hours to do a little walking around the house. I can’t wait to start feeling myself again and get out of the house!!

When it comes to food, I don’t have much of an appetite. I have been eating small salads with lemon juice for dressing, eggs, and some protein. Mostly, I have just been super thirsty and drinking a ton of water. I still have a lot of swelling and the more water that I drink, the faster the swelling will go away.

Stay tuned for what to expect one week after liposuction results next week. If you’re thinking of having Liposuction done, make an appointment with Dr. Champion by calling (949) 238-6133. Save 10% on your next procedure by using the discount code Shelby100.
