Our Plastic
Surgeons
Our
surgeons have obtained the highest standards in training, skill,
experience and knowledge. Each surgeon has completed many years
of intense study and surgical training required to meet the
rigorous standards, guidelines and criteria set by the American
Board of Plastic Surgery. They each maintain
privileges at a number of hospitals, which ensures that their
training and credentials are reviewed and approved by peers.
Their skills as plastic surgeons and the positive
results experienced by thousands of satisfied patients have
helped them
to create one of the most successful plastic surgery practices
in Southern
California.
HOW TO CHOOSE A QUALIFIED PLASTIC SURGEON
Choosing
a qualified surgeon is a responsibility that cannot be taken
lightly. Your decision involves research that can help you
verify the surgeon’s training and experience. From your
research you should be able to weigh your options in order
to make the best choice.
There
are a number of ways to evaluate which surgeon may be right
for you. Here are some things to look for...
1. Certification by the American Board of
Plastic Surgery (ABPS).
A
surgeon’s membership in this organization means that
he or she has completed the following education in order to
specialize in the art of plastic surgery.
- Completed
undergraduate college
- Completed
medical school
- Completed
an approved surgical residency program of at least three years
- Completed
an approved plastic surgery residency of an additional two
- three years
- Passed
rigorous written and oral examinations administered by trained
and experienced plastic surgeons in order to become a “Board
Certified” plastic surgeon. Don’t be confused
by other official-sounding boards and certifications. The
American Board of Plastic Surgery is the only board
recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to
certify physicians in the plastic surgery specialty.
2. Membership in the American Society of
Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) or The American Society for Aesthetic
Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
All
members of these societies are certified by the American Board
of Plastic Surgery
3. Make sure the surgeon has hospital affiliations.
An
appointment to a surgical staff of an accredited hospital indicates
that the capabilities and performance have been reviewed and
judged acceptable by their colleagues. Even if you plan to
have your surgery performed in an accredited, out-patient surgery
center, be sure that your surgeon has hospital privileges to
perform the same procedure in a hospital, if you so desire.
4. Speak candidly with the surgeon and determine
compatibility.
You
should feel comfortable asking any and all questions about
the procedure you are contemplating. After you have researched
the surgeon, schedule a consultation appointment where you
can talk freely, discuss your goals, expectations and ask questions
about any aspect of the surgery. A qualified and reputable
surgeon will be happy to answer your questions as well as to
inform you about possible risks associated with the procedure.
